Calls to Practice Complete With Scratches

I found a little book of 45's that you could play of bird songs, but didn't have a record player anymore.  So I gave it to Craig for his d.j. lifestyle..now is it lost for good in his crates of compulsive record collecting?

What Started it All

Behold the very first paper bag painting...it all started after seeing the work of artist Chinatsu Ban, and her wonderful images of elephants wearing underpants! I was inspired to do underpants art myself; this is the result of that fateful day. You can view Ban's paintings here.

My Favorite Painting So Far

Unfortunately, I don't have a very good photo of it; the flash left some glare on the acrylic paint!

I think I missed the poppies this year...

I'll be back in the Bay Area for two weeks in the beginning of august.  The poppies will be gone already, but I will hopefully be home for the blooming of the naked ladies, the pink trumpet-shaped flowers on bare stems that seem to bloom magically after the grass has died.

Beekeeper Dreams

This painting was inspired by the mysterious bee crisis last year.

Those of you who know me have heard about my plans to become a beekeeper, and hopefully this will happen in the next few years. .....Also, I plan to keep pigeons to send messages to friends; email is fast but not quite as satisfying.

The Bartender liked this one

When I had these paintings up at the Lexington Club in San Francisco last may, it was the bartender that decided to buy this painting. Not surprising it would strike a chord in her line of work.

Another paper bag artist found!

I just found out about another artist painting on paper bags named Chris Crites! He currently has a show up in Seattle of gun portraits.  His other paintings feature old-fashioned mug shots, and contemporary portraits.

Little does Chris Crites know, I also have a "gun portrait" in my collection, which will be posted here soon.

A different kind of sightseeing

My grandfather used to take my two younger brothers to the dump (actually the transfer station) to see the garbage trucks south of San Francisco.  I was not invited, it just wasn't something he thought girls would want to do.   Looking at the painting later, I realize it seems very masochistic if you don't know the context.

Less paint, more bag

Just wanted to try an experiment with leaving more bag showing instead of trying to hide the materials.

Taking off without training wheels

Now that I look at this painting again, I notice that I didn't add a kickstand.  What was I thinking?

I miss the Kodak Instamatic

Say cheese if you remember those flash cubes, and the burning chemical smell they produced.
